Oh, our Abba is so good. How excellent He is.
ENGLISH CAMP
October was a very busy month for Chang Noi Ministry. Thai schools are closed during this month, as it is their winter holiday, so we held an English Camp at Pastor Num’s church, Promise Baptist Church. The church has great facilities for this, lots of room to run, play games, sing songs and burn off some of the energy that 6-9 year olds seem to have in abundance.
Our Abba blessed us with a great international staff; Yolander from Papua New Guinea, Fanny from Indonesia, Karis from Australia, Rin, Sea and Fa from Thailand. We also had English speaking volunteers from Virginia and Ohio.
The students played games, sang songs, worked on their English and had a great time. When the 3 weeks were over and the students had to return to their regular schools they wanted to know if they could stay and attend school with us!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We saw our Abba’s blessings daily. Little Fa came the first day, sobbing and not wanting her mother to leave her with all of the strangers around her. Mother stayed a while and then left, Fa still in tears. Everyday it was the same scene with Mother not staying as long but Fa still in tears. The last week of the camp I saw Fa jump out of the pickup and run to the English camp area WITHOUT even looking back and telling her Mother bye!!!! Oh, our Abba does work His ways in the lives of these children.
Another huge blessing. Karis has such a burden for these children that when the camp was over she wanted to continue working with the children. So, she opened continued English classes at Num’s church on Sunday afternoon. Karis, with the aid of Thai volunteers, teach English to the children for 30 minutes and Bible stories for the last 30 minutes. The children are enjoying it so much, what a ministry outreach into the lives of these children’s families. Thank you, Karis, for your caring heart.
FUN AT ENGLISH CAMP ENGLISH CAMP STAFF THE LEARNING CENTER During this same time we began the first step in the vision for The Learning Center at Promise Church. Thanks to volunteers from the states who are here serving their church in the PakNam area, we were able to open 2 English classes;
Conversational English on Thursday nights and Beginner’s English on Saturday mornings. The women teaching these classes are a huge blessing and are enjoying making relationships with the adult Thai students. Our vision for The Learning Center is two-fold. We want to use the teaching of English as out outreach ministry for Num’s church as each class has someone from his church enrolled in the class. The second part is for building a financial support base for Chang Noi Ministry. Our Abba continues to bless His work here in PakNam and Nardsoontorn but as with all ministries money is needed to keep the ministry liquid. Pray for this new ministry as our biggest need is volunteer teachers. The classes run for 8 week terms and teachers are needed in order to continue the present classes and to open new classes. The teaching of English is a big draw for Thai people as they all want to learn and improve their English skills.
If you are interested in helping with one or more terms, please contact me, your help is needed.
ABBA HOUSE
All programs were closed during the month of October and have just opened again. The nursery school with Khun Rin is great, she has the same 3 students who attended the last term, they were eager for her return. We are trying to add more students to the program but Thai parents in the Nardsoontorn slums are not too eager to put their children into nursery school as they just do not see the importance educating the young. Pray for the nursery school as Rin continues to develop this program and as we pray for more students.
KHUN RIN OPENS NURSERY SCHOOL VOLUNTEER SHARON HELPING AT NURSERY SCHOOL The Saturday and Sunday programs have opened again and it is challenging. While we were closed for the month of October another church came into the area and made some contacts, giving the children more choices for their time. Also, many of the children are involved in playing video games so they go the shop and spend hours there. Satan provides all kinds of diversions for the children, video games, gangs, paint thinner sniffing, other activities, etc in seeking to lure them into his traps. Pray for the children and workers in the Saturday and Sunday programs. Sea, Dta and Jumroon have returned for another term so we are praying and working hard to get our programs back on track. Pray for these young workers,
Num and I know the many challenges of working in this slum area but we know the joy also as one young girl comes to us asking for a Bible. Pray for us as we continue to pray and serve here in PakNam and Nardsoontorn.
PRAY FOR US AT ABBA HOUSE In our Abba’s arms,
Lee and Num
