NewslettersSwasdee Kha from Thailand…….June 2007 Oh, what a busy time in the lives of Chang Noi Ministry for the past month or so. With Abba House closed during the month of April I returned to the States at the end of March. April is the hottest month for us here in Thailand and as a result of the heat the Thai schools are closed as there is very little air conditioning in the local schools. Many of the children of the Nardsootorn area return to their home villages in the North of Thailand during this time to visit family and escape the heat. IN THE STATES This was quite a busy time for me as I visited family in Texas as well as supporting churches and sponsors. It was good to visit with my mother in her home following her lengthy stay in the nursing home due to hip surgery with other complications. Only Texas weather can give one rain, sleet, snow and a dust storm within a three day period. I had forgotten this!!!!!!!! Num and I are so grateful to First Baptist Church, Post, TX and Second Baptist Church, Levelland, TX for their generous support of both Num and the work of Chang Noi Ministry here in PakNam, Thailand. We are looking forward to serving with them here in Thailand. ABBA HOUSE While I was in the states during May Abba House re-opened thanks to the faithfulness of Kae and Ju; Sea, our new staff person and Sue. With the opening there were many new children as well as the return of the faithful others. What a blessing to know that our Abba’s work continues under the leadership of these volunteers. Num and I appreciate so much their commitment to our Abba’s ministry at Abba House. ![]() Sea is Chang Noi’s new staff member. GRADUATION Oh, what a grand time for Num and I as I was blessed to be with him for his graduation activities during May 16th – 19th at Liberty Seminary, Lynchburg, VA. I will regress for just a few lines to share with you how our Abba has taken care of Num for the past 18 months. In December 2005 we opened Num’s checking account in Lynchburg, VA with $1200 and commitments from churches and individuals for his monthly support. When I arrived on May 7th Num showed me his bank book, a balance of $1200!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Num never went hungry, his rent was always paid and his needs were always met. What a testimony to our Abba’s faithfulness to Num, Chang Noi Ministry and His children. Graduation week was exciting. I attended the seminary banquet with Num where both of us were so surprised when he received the Dr Frank Schmitt Outstanding Seminary Student DMIN Award! Neither one of us had any idea of the recognition he was to receive. ![]() Plan your work; work your plan. Commencement ceremonies were very impressive but the hooding ceremony of the DMIN students in Thomas Roads Baptist Church where Thanu (Num) became Dr Thanu Wongthanathikul was awesome. What an humbling experience for this young Thai pastor, more than 14,000 miles away from home in Thailand. It had been a long eighteen months for him but he had ‘planned his work and worked his plan’ (Dr Frank Schmitt). ![]() Dr. Thanu Wongthanathikul. The death of Dr Jerry Falwell was ever present during this time but it never once overshadowed the joy of the occasion for the graduates. Dr Falwell had given Num two full academic scholarships for his DMIN studies and we will always remember him with fond memories and thankful hearts. As will many others. PRAYING CHURCHES Num and I were able to visit with several churches and share Chang Noi Ministry with them. We are always grateful for an opportunity to do this. We spoke in churches in North Carolina, Missouri and Idaho, and were reminded of His greatness through the prayers and generous hearts of His children. THAILAND Num and I are back in Thailand, what a joy to have his family and friends meet us at the airport at midnight of June 5th. All of that picture taking after we had been on the plane for over 20 hours!!!!!! There is much work to be done in Num’s church, Promise Baptist Church. He returned to a newly completed church that will seat 400-500 people. Quite a challenge for this church and for Dr Num as he leads the work there. Chang Noi Ministry continues to grow. We are now praying about the possibility of opening a nursery school at Abba House. In Thailand’s schools the children are daily taught Budhisim. Our desire is to teach our children about Jesus Christ before they have to enter school. Chang Noi Ministry asks everyone to join us in prayer as we are praying for both a teacher and the finances for this work. Be Still and See What Great and Mighty Things He Can Do. In our Abba’s arms, Lee and Num ![]() |
